Aim of the activities is the development of efficient numerical methods for complex dynamical processes in science, engineering, industry and commerce.

The design of these methods is demand driven. It incorporates the analysis of application class structures, which are then exploited in order to improve efficiency and reliability. In order to be able to attack challenging large scale problems, it also includes implementation aspects for innovative computer architectures, especially parallel systems.
