Software Practical

"Preparation of aerospace test cases for optimization with MUSCOD"

Description

The aim of the project is to assess the aerospace test cases published by the European Space Agency (ESA). The C++ files should be downloaded and used in the initial value problem (IVP) solvers of the MUSCOD suite to generate trajectories of the published optimal solutions.

The project is to be completed by a report and an oral presentation in front of the Simulation and Optimization group.

Focus

  • Code analysis
  • Numerical techniques for ordinary differential equations

The practical can serve as a preparation project for a Bachelor, Master, or Diplom thesis on the optimization of the trajectories with the Direct Multiple Shooting method.

Classification of the project

This project is suited for one or two students as a beginner's or advanced software practical. The demanded effort will be scaled accordingly.

Requirements

  • Numerics of ordinary differential equations (e.g. courses Numerik 0+1).
  • Knowledge and some experience in programming with C++.
